Here is a list of some of our frequently asked questions. If you can not find the answer that you are looking for, please do not hesitate to get in contact with us.
-
Can you provide crisis support? We are unable to provide support outside of your scheduled appointment times. If you have an emergency or require urgent crisis support, we have included a list of available services you can contact on our crisis resources page.
-
What are your working hours? At present our core hours are Monday to Thursday between 8.00am and 4.00pm. However, we are able to offer a limited number of appointments outside of these times. Please contact us to discuss this more.
-
How do you handle confidentiality? All of our sessions are kept confidential, which means that we will not disclose information to a third party unless you have given us permission to do so. There are however, a few excepts to this. We may discuss certain cases with a clinical supervisor, this is a mandatory requirement in order to practice as a Clinical Psychologist and helps to ensure that we maintain our high professional standards. We have supervision contracts in place to ensure that this information remains confidential and it is not shared on. The only other time that we would need to break confidentiality is if you talked about harm to yourself or to someone else, in which case we have a duty of care to act to ensure that this person(s) is/are safe.
-
Do you work in schools? Our service is located in South East Devon, and can provide direct targeted support in schools which are in commutable distance. Please contact us to discuss this more.
-
Do you provide mental health support? Our support is aimed directly at helping people to gain the best possible understanding of their neurodivergent identity and ways to manage this effectively. As part of this work we will be able to provide strategies which improve your mental health and wellbeing. However, please note that it is not our intention to provide targeted support for specific mental health conditions. If this is your goal, we would recommend that you access mental health services for this instead.
-
Who needs to attend the initial appointment session? The initial appointment will focus on understanding what your goals for sessions are, and who would best benefit from being involved in this work. Where this work pertains to child and young people, and they are going to be part of the sessions, we would recommend that they attend the initial appointment, along with a parent or guardian. It will, however, be possible to speak to the Psychologist separately if required.
-
What are your payment terms? In order to secure an appointment, full payment is required three days prior to an appointment.
-
Where do you work?We are able to see people face to face or online (or a hybrid of the two!). Our clinic is located at the Matford Business Centre, Marsh Barton, Exeter, EX2 8ED. The office is fully accessible with disabled parking and a lift and is easily accessible by car as it is close to the Exeter ring roads, A30, A38 and M5. Our online sessions are offered via Microsoft Teams link. This means we are able to offer support from the comfort of your own home. It will be important, however, to ensure that you call us from a quiet uninterrupted space, so as to be able to get the most out of your sessions.
-
What happens if I wish to cancel my appointment? We require at least 24 hours notice to cancel or re-arrange an appointment, otherwise this will be subject to the full payment fee.
